Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild
Since his return to Woodstock, where he lives fulltime, in 2011, Sheer became increasingly engaged with the creative community. Over the past several years he was asked to join several committees of the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, the nation’s oldest art colony, founded in 1903. He became a member of the programming committee and later the exhibition committee. With the advent of the pandemic Sheer suggested and helped create a virtual series via Zoom called Byrdcliffe Forum which presented dialogs and panels about the visual arts and author readings in collaboration with the Golden Notebook bookstore.
Under the aegis of the Byrdcliffe Forum he created a series of single artist interviews called “Woodstock Masters” that presented such artists as: Mary Frank, Nancy Azara, Donald Elder, Portia Munson, Yale Epstein, Bob Lang, Joan Snyder, Judy Pfaff and others.
